KÜHL is one of those brands that I always saw in REI or other major outfitter stores and thought that the material looked so high quality and durable. It wasn't until both my boyfriend Dorian and I got our hands on a pair that we realized just how nice this brand's clothing really is though. Because of this, I'm here to share with you our experience wearing both the men's and women's outdoor pants and to explain why we love them so much. 

What Are KÜHL Pants Known For?

KÜHL pants are known to be durable, a little stretchy, lightweight, and sometimes even waterproof. They're extremely versatile and can be worn while hiking, fishing, or doing other outdoor activities, but they're also great for every day use as well. Regardless of which style you choose, every pair is created with comfort and longevity in mind, and some even have cool features like UPF protection, quick-drying fabrics, and multiple pockets.

How Do KÜHL Pants Fit?

KÜHL pants generally fit true to size but if you're unsure which pant size is right for you, make sure to look at the sizing chart below the style of pants you're looking at. If you're in a store, I would definitely recommend trying them on. The company does state that when it comes to men's pants, every single pair has a gusseted crotch, articulated legs, and that they are cut generously in the thigh, so that's something to keep in mind as well.

Can You Wash KÜHL Pants?

Yes, of course you can wash KÜHL pants!  It’s recommended to wash them in cold water and tumble dry on low or hang dry to preserve the fabric and fit. For specific instructions based on the style and fit that you purchased, make sure to look at the care tag on the physical pants. That will give the most accurate directions to preserve that style of pants.

Are KÜHL Pants Waterproof or Good for the Outdoors?

KÜHL pants are exceptional for the outdoors, and I can confidently say that based on my own experience. When KÜHL sent me a pair of the Trekr Straight pull-on pant in light blue and Dorian the Suppressor Jogger in carbon, we opened the package and immediately knew the quality was great. Dorian has worked at a ski shop that sold the brand so he had prior experience with outdoorsy customers looking for a durable clothing brand like this, but this was my first true experience trying on a pair of their pants. Right away we absolutely loved how lightweight and breathable the fabric was. Dorian even went fishing that very same day wearing the pants and he reported that when the pants got wet the water "beaded right off" the material. While not every pair of pants is completely waterproof (mine are more water repellent), I would say that KÜHL is a great brand for outdoor clothing.

Are KÜHL Pants Worth the Price?

YES, KÜHL pants are worth the price. While each pair costs anywhere from $80 to $120 depending on the style you choose, I would suggest thinking of it as an investment into quality clothing. It's important to have breathable, durable fabric when doing outdoor activities and KÜHL does a great job producing clothing that will last.

My Final Thoughts on KÜHL Pants

After wearing my pair of KÜHL pants a couple times for travel and hiking, I can definitely say these pants are worth it. The fit is flattering without feeling restrictive, and the fabric feels rugged but still comfortable enough for all-day wear. While they are on the pricier side, I believe they’re worth the investment if you’re looking for versatile pants that can handle a variety of situations. I’d definitely consider trying other KÜHL styles in the future.
